THE CREATION OF SWEET JUBILEE

She lived in an orphanage in Mchinji, Malawi. Although she faced challenges no child should ever endure, her smile radiated joy, hope, and resilience. I never met her, but one photograph forever changed my heart—and eventually inspired me to paint 'Sweet Jubilee.'

My name is Yolanda Cooper. Every piece you'll find in this shop begins with the story of how I was inspired to create Sweet Jubilee.

Years ago, I came across a photograph of a little girl named Wezi, who lived in an orphanage in Mchinji. Wezi was HIV-positive and faced heart-wrenching challenges.  Yet what captivated me wasn't her illness—it was her smile. It was genuine, radiant, and filled with a joy that seemed untouched by her circumstances.

That smile stayed with me.

I couldn't stop thinking about this little girl whose light continued to shine so brightly in the face of hardship. Eventually, I picked up my paintbrush and created Sweet Jubilee as a tribute to her beautiful spirit—a reminder that hope, joy, and love can flourish even in life's most difficult moments.

Today, Wezi's legacy continues to live on through this artwork.

A percentage of the proceeds from every purchase in this shop is donated to the orphanage where Wezi once lived, helping support the children who continue to call it home. Every print, mug, tote bag, greeting card, and gift is more than a beautiful piece of art—it's an opportunity to share hope while giving back.
