"I was inspired by the smile a precious little girl named Wezi who was photographed for a book called 'I Am Because WE ARE'. She was one of five children living in an orphanage in Mchinji. As the last child in her family, she was HIV positive and didn't know it. She just knew her grandmother gave her a pill every day.  She never complained, even though she was sick often. The picture of her smiling makes me smile, those sweet cheeks with the joy of a child's innocence. I painted it to honor her memory."
